<p>Kids &#8211; at 1 p.m. we need your help in making a<strong> Human OAKLEY</strong> spelled on the side of the hill  where our Buffalo Bill Statue stands.  Then at 1:30, <a title="Randy Sauer" href="http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_10468678" target="_blank">Randy Sauer </a>will be playing music for the kids so kids from 5 to 95, be ready to dance.</p>

<p><strong>Buffalo Bill,</strong> <a title="Kirk Shapland" href="http://codyoftheplains.tripod.com/kirk2.html" target="_blank">Kirk Shapland </a>will be here from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. with his Buffalo Bill stories.  Get your picture taken with Buffalo Bill.</p>
<p><strong>HOG ROAST</strong>:  The Knights of Columbus is serving up a pig at the Buffalo Bill Sculpture between the hours of 3pm and 7pm.   Whistlin’ Pig will also be here with lemonade, snow cones, chocolate dipped waffles.</p>
<p>And &#8211; give a big welcome to Biking Across Kansas, <strong><a title="BAK" href="http://www.bak.org/" target="_blank">BAK</a></strong>, who will be stopping overnight in Oakley on the first leg of their bicycle tour across the state.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Groundbreaking held May 3rd for the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center</strong></p>
<p>Miller Construction out of Goodland was awarded the contract to build the 8,000 sqare foot Buffalo Bill Cultural Center at the site of the twice life-sized Buffalo Bill bronze statue in Oakley.   The center will provide tourist information for the entire region and have a 3,200 square foot event center that can host meetings and events of up to 350 people.   The gift shop will showcase Kansas products and artists.</p>
<p>The groundbreaking was held May 3rd.  The Wild West Historical Foundation board of directors was joined by the Oakley Ambassadors, city officials and a representative from the Kansas Department of Commerce.  Buffalo Bill Bronze artists and sculptors Charlie and Pat Norton also joined the ceremony which was covered by three newpapers:  The Hays Daily News, Colby Free Press and the Oakley Graphic.  Below is an artist rendition of the new center planned to be open the first of November.</p>

<p>To make way for the new <strong>Buffalo Bill Cultural Center</strong> currently under construction, The Wild West Historical Foundation must sell the cabin.  The cabin has all the amenities of home and is equipped with hookups for all appliances.  <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Sealed bids will be accepted at the cabin, or mailed to 124 US Hwy 83, Oakley, KS 67748. </span> Move the cabin to that perfect spot on the lake or on your property. Come on by and take a look. Call 785-671-1000 for more information.</p>
<p><a title="Cabin" href="http://www.buffalobilloakley.org/buffalo-bill/the-cabin" target="_blank">The Buffalo Bill log cabin </a>was built in 2006 and moved to Oakley at the site of the twice life size bronze sculpture of Buffalo Bill on his horse in pursuit of a buffalo.  The cabin, built by Bill Olsen, of Straight Line at 2582 Highway K25, in Colby, KS, is currently an information center and gift shop.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #339966;">The Wild West Historical Foundation is a non profit 501 (c)3 corporation dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the wild west.</span></strong></p>

<p>The ride starts in <strong>Russell Springs</strong> both days.  Saturday&#8217;s ride starts at 1:00 PM.  Sunday&#8217;s ride starts at 9:00 AM.  Horse-drawn vehicles, horses, riders, and hikers will cover the wide-open spaces along the Butterfield Trail and return to Russell Springs to camp overnight.  Sunday&#8217;s ride will return before noon.</p>

For starters, the top 16 women&#8217;s junior college teams in the nation will arrive at the Bicentennial Center Arena, Monday March 19 for 30 minute &#8216;shoot-a-rounds&#8217; (open to the public) followed on Tuesday by the start of a 26-game tournament with all teams eyeing the Championship title! So, join our &#8216;team&#8217; and support this National Championship event by buying a ticket and attending the games! Tickets are $11 per day (4-6 games per day) or $50 for a tournament pass (all 26 games). To purchase tickets, contact the <a href="http://www.bicentennial.org/" target="_blank">Bicentennial Center Box Office</a>, (785) 826-SHOW.</p>
