Great Plains Theatre Presents Back to Back Productions

leading ladies
Great Plains Theatre in Abilene Kansas will present a hilarious new comedy by the author of LEND ME A TENOR and MOON OVER BUFFALO.  LEADING LADIES runs October 14 through the 23.

The comedy finds two actors so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in Amish country. When they hear an old lady is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they attempt to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives to get the cash. Romantic entanglements abound, and mayhem ensues, when they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces!

Spelling Bee

The “25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE” runs October 28 through November 6.  This 2005 Broadway smash musical is a  hilarious family-oriented tale that chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling champion of a lifetime. The show’s Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
